craniosacral therapy (cst)

black rock therapies (brt) is proud to announce the launch of its new craniosacral therapy treatments!

What is it?

Black Rock Therapies, in its position as a leader in the field of massage here in Red Deer, has recently added CST to our range of available massage options. CST is a light touch approach that can create dramatic improvements in your life. It releases tensions deep in the body to relieve pain and dysfunction and improve whole body health and performance. The main focus of the treatment being based on your central nervous system. (The soft tissues and fluid that protect your brain and spinal cord).

What does it help with?

CST improves your body’s ability to take better care of you by allowing it to relax and self correct. It relieves a full spectrum of pain, illness and dysfunction including:

  • Migraines and Headaches
  • Chronic neck and back pain
  • Stress and tension related disorders
  • Motor-Coordination impairments
  • Infant and childhood disorders
  • Ear infections
  • Sinus issues
  • Brain and spinal cord injuries
  • Chronic fatigue
  • Fibromyalgia
  • TMJ Syndrome
  • Scoliosis
  • Central Nervous System disorders
  • Learning disabilities
  • Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
  • Orthopedic problems

How does it work?

Our therapist will begin by gently touching various parts of your body to monitor the rhythm of the fluid that is flowing around your central nervous system. This allows our therapist to locate weak fluid flow or tissue motion and trace the source of the dysfunction. Delicate manual techniques are then used to release those problem areas and improve the body’s form and function.

Who does it help?

Because it is so gentle CST can be effective for all ages from newborns to elders.

For children CST can help specifically with:

Colic, chronic ear infection, learning disabilities, dyslexia, speech disorders and emotional problems.

How long does a treatment take?

Treatments are typically an hour long in duration depending on the condition being treated. CST can be used alone or integrated with other types of massage to create a powerful effect.

How many treatments are required?

As with all treatments at Black Rock Therapies we take each case on individual need and we do not pre-sell packages for estimated treatment amounts.

What should I wear?

This is a clothes on treatment unless incorporated with another form of massage during the treatment.

What you experience from your own session is highly individual. The sessions are generally deeply relaxing, creating feelings of warmth or gentle pulsing in the area our therapist is working on. By freeing the central nervous system to perform at its best CST naturally eliminates pain and stress, strengthens your resistance to disease and enhances your health and wellbeing.

CST was developed by Dr John E Upledger an Osteopathic physician and professor of Biomechanics at the College of Osteopathic Medicine at Michigan State University. To date there are over 80,000 therapists trained worldwide in CST.
