Reflexology

Origin

Reflexology has been used for centuries and it is thought to have been developed originally by the ancient Egyptians. Today it is one of the most popular types of complementary therapy available.

What is it?

It is a non-invasive therapy that does not aim to diagnose or cure illness but rather to promote the body’s powerful self-healing capability, in addition to improve and optimize physical, emotional and spiritual well being. Reflexology means applying pressure and massage to areas on your feet and hands. The feet are the most common area to treat. According to reflexologists, you have reflex areas in your feet that match every part of your body.

How does it work?

At Black Rock Therapies, a reflexology session lasts 60 minutes and is done lying down. Our specialist Reflexology Massage Therapist will use her fingers and thumbs to apply pressure to your feet and occasionally hands.

Benefits

Most people who enjoy reflexology comment on how it feels relaxing and soothing, how it helps you recharge and heal, whilst helping you unwind, de-stress and reduce anxiety. Here at Black Rock we describe it as a ‘treat for the feet’!
